EPA Establishes New Non-Cancer Reference Level for TCE

In May 2011, EPA posted new residential and commercial non-cancer inhalation reference levels for TCE, based on New York levels, on the regional screening levels website. For residential settings, a hazard index of 1.0 for TCE is at a concentration of 10 ug/m3. Information can be found at:

The Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council will be offering its two day course, Vapor Intrusion Pathway: A Practical Guideline, in Denver, Colorado on October 3-4, 2011 in conjunction with the Colorado Dept. of Public Health and Environment and the Wyoming Dept. of Environmental Quality. EPA Releases Background Indoor Air Technical Report

On June 21, 2011 EPA released OSWER Technical report EPA530-R-10-001 entitled "Background Indoor Air Concentrations of Volatile Organic Compounds in North American Residences (1990-2005): A Compilation of Statistics for Assessing Vapor Intrusion". The report is available at:

New Hampshire Issues Updated Vapor Intrusion Guidance

The New Hampshire Dept. of Environmental Services issued updated Vapor Intrusion Guidance on July 5, 2011. The updated guidance includes a shift to the use of sub-slab soil vapor data rather than exterior soil vapor data and a decision matrix. The draft Guidance can be found at:
